Helis, March 03, 2017 - The French defence minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, in a visit to the Marignane plant, announced that the H160 helicopter will be ordered from 2024.
The contract will fall under the Hélicoptère Interarmées Léger (HIL) program which seeks a replacement for the Puma, Gazelle, Dauphin, Panther, Fennec and Alouette III still in use by the 3 French Armed Forces.
The total requirement can be up to 400 helicopters in order to fulfill their several different missions such as transport, search and rescue, light attack, reconnaissance, maritime surveillance and training.
