Founded in 1980 as Hillsboro Aviation. In November 2014, Lyons sold the flight school portion to Renovus Capital Partners and Graycliff Partners creating the new company.

Hillsboro Aero Academy is one of the largest helicopter and airplane flight training academies in the United States. With a fleet of over 90 aircraft, Hillsboro Aero Academy flies in excess of 70,000 flight hours per year from its three campuses in Oregon.
