Andalucía Government of Andalusia Spanish Autonomous Communities
Andalusia is an autonomous community in southern Spain, the country’s most populous region and a self-governing territory located on the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula. Positioned as a natural bridge between Europe and Africa, it borders both the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The region is divided into eight provinces—Almería, Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Málaga, and Seville—with Seville serving as the capital of the autonomous community.
INFOCA plan (Plan de Prevención y Extinción de Incendios Forestales de Andalucía) is one of Europe’s most advanced wildfire-response systems, protecting more than 8.4 million hectares through a mix of satellite monitoring, controlled burns, rapid-reaction BRICA helitack brigades, and one of the country’s largest aerial firefighting fleets—including helicopters and air tankers that can be airborne within minutes during high-risk periods.
