Operated by ADAC Luftrettung, the service provides rapid emergency medical response and patient transport across a region that includes both western Germany and neighboring areas of the Netherlands. The station originated as a German Armed Forces rescue helicopter base operating the Bell UH-1D and was transferred to civilian operation in 1998, when it adopted the "Europa" designation to reflect its international mission profile. Christoph Europa 2 employs an Airbus H135 (Christoph 24) configured as a flying intensive care unit, enabling medical crews to reach accident scenes quickly, provide advanced prehospital treatment, and transport critically ill or injured patients to specialized trauma and university medical centers.
