There were 6 Pilots and 4 Wet Swimmers/Aircrewman assigned to the ship as well. When the ship was pier side in Norfolk the Helo was located at a Hangar at NAS Norfolk. When the ship was underway the Helo would stay on board the ship. Each LHA and LHD during this time had a HH-1N assigned to it for search and rescue (SAR) and utility role ” | |||
