Opened originally in 1943 for USAAF but by Aug 1944 was part of RAF 16 Group, Coastal Command before it closed to military flying in Nov 1945.
Re-opened in 1965 to serve the (mostly) gas rigs of the southern North Sea, operations were moved to Norwich in the 1990s. It is now a General Aviation base, using only the eastern end of the original site.
