Field discovered in Sep 1976 and began production in Sep 1981. The low sulphur crude is exported by pipeline to Nigg. Beatrice production had been steadily declining and production ceased in 2015. It is facing decommissioning; the original 2004 plan was formulated assuming that the UK MoD would re-purpose the platform, but the MoD cancelled its agreement in 2012.
Sealing and closedown work (known as P and A) completed by Mar 2018 on 7 of the 11 wells at Beatrice B. Work on the other 4 was expected to complete by Oct 2018.
