Originally opened in 1967 as a Planetarium and communications museum, it became the Calgary Science Centre in 1987. The fate of the aviation collection is uncertain but the site had been vacant since 2011 when Telus World of Science moved out. It is now the location for Contemporary Calgary art gallery.
