The Claymore field produced its first oil in Nov 1977 from Upper Jurassic (Volgian) Claymore Sandstone. It exports its product via the FLOTTA pipeline. It was at peak production just before the Piper Alpha disaster in Jul 1988 and since 1991 has been in a steady decline.
