The Gjoa field began production in Nov 2010, after its discovery in 1989; oil is piped to Mongstad near Bergen and gas is sent to the UK (St Fergus) via the FLAGS pipeline. The platform is an innovator, as it is the first ever floater to be powered by an undersea electricity cable from Mongstad.
