UK Government approved the Rosebank oil and gas field development in Sep 2023. The field is 130km NW of Shetland, in c 1100m of water. Crude oil will be collected by shuttle tankers from the Petrojarl Knarr FPSO, which is currently (Jul 2025) being refitted for electrification and is due to take up station before production starts. Gas will be sent from the FPSO onshore via an extension to the subsea West of Shetland Pipeline (WOSP) system.
