Canada ordered 41 Sikorsky CHSS-2 ASW helicopters for the Royal Canadian Navy in 1960. The first few were built by Sikorsky in CT with the remainder being assembled at United Aircraft of Canada (a subsidiary of Sikorskys parent company, United Technology) in Montreal. Upon unification in 1968, the helicopters were redesignated CH-124 Sea King.
