HAL Indian Multi Role Helicopter (IMRH)

First announced in 2008, a Medium Lift Helicopter in the 10-15 ton class intended to be produced in partnership with Russia or (then) Eurocopter.

A mockup was first unveiled during Aero India 2017.

At Aero-India 2023, HAL and Safran signed workshare agreement for the 13-ton IMRH (Indian Multi-Role Helicopter) and its naval version DBMRH (Deck Based Multi-Role Helicopter). Future extension to civil market for offshore operations, Utility, VVIP transport, etc., is also planned.

In August 2024 was announced that the SAFHAL Aravalli engine will power these helicopters.

HAL New Plant at Tumakuru for IMRH

25-Feb-19 - HAL signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Government for infrastructure development at the Greenfield helicopter facility in Tumakuru during Aero India 2019. The new plant will be use to build biggest HAL’ helicopter, the IMRH #infrastructure
