A 5-8 seat, 2.5 metric ton class helicopter was developed by Marenco Swisshelicopter as the SKY-e SH09 from 2002 with a expected enter to service around 2015. By April 2013, 45 aircraft were in order. The prototype first flew on October 2, 2014.
In February 2018 the company was rebranded as Kopter and the SH09 is expected to gain certification during 2019.
In 2020 acquired by Leonardo an rebranded AW09
