The first six UH-60L helicopters (locally designated H-60L), purchased in 2006, were assigned to the 7/8 GAV for SAR missions in the Amazonas region. Additional aircraft were requested in 2009 which arrived in 2011 and 2012.
In 2017, the fleet reached 30,000 flight hours.
In 2025, an order was announced for 11 second-hand UH-60L helicopters, along with plans to upgrade them—and the 13 aircraft already in service—with Garmin G5000H flight decks through Ace Aeronautics.
