Ireland is introducing the Airbus H145 across both law enforcement and military aviation roles through separate modernization programs. The Garda Air Support Unit (GASU) is acquiring two civilian-specification H145 helicopters to replace its older H135 aircraft, with the first example completed at Oxford and the second entering flight testing in June 2026. Operated in support of An Garda Síochána, the new helicopters will be used for surveillance, public security, border policing, counter-terrorism support, and the rapid transport of specialist units such as the Emergency Response Unit.
