Helis, January 25, 2021 - A Royal Australian Navy Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopter flew for the first time with an all-female crew.
The aircraft, assigned to 725 training squadron, took off from a routine shift from HMAS Albatross naval air base (Nowra) last week flown by Lieutenant pilot Rhiannon Thomson, Royal Navy Aviation Warfare Officer Lieutenant Hannah Best and Sensor Operator Leading Seaman Clare Lassam.
"It was nice to get out with my peers and do what we do every day", Lieutenant Thomson said. "We just don't always get to do it with an all-female crew because we are in such small numbers."
The "Romeo" Seahawk replaced the "Bravo" in navy inventory from 2013 as the embarked helicopter for RAN’s frigates and destroyers.
