At the recent Catarina Aviation Show, held May 21-23, Leonardo announced that Brazilian retail company Havan has placed an order for a second Leonardo AW169 helicopter in corporate transport configuration, with delivery expected to take place from Leonardo’s Vergiate final assembly facility in Italy by the end of 2028.

The agreement reflects the customer’s satisfaction with its first AW169, delivered in late 2025, and reinforces Havan’s continued reliance on Leonardo VIP helicopters developed under the exclusive Agusta executive brand. Over the years, the company has also operated several Leonardo AW109 helicopters.

The second AW169 will feature a configuration similar to the first aircraft, including hinged cabin doors and a 4+2+2 seating layout optimized for executive transport missions.

Leonardo helicopters have played an important role in supporting Havan’s nationwide expansion over the last two decades, enabling rapid access to locations across Brazil as the company continued opening new stores and strengthening business management operations.

Leonardo AW169

The AW169 continues to gain momentum across Latin America, with approximately 30 units sold to operators in Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay for a range of missions including passenger transport, law enforcement, firefighting, and rescue operations. Brazil remains the leading market for the type’s VIP and corporate transport role, with an in-service fleet of 18 aircraft and four additional deliveries planned during 2026.

The AW169’s success in Brazil has been driven by its advanced certification standards, modern navigation capabilities, strong performance, spacious cabin, and extensive customization options. Unique features such as APU-mode — allowing onboard equipment to operate on the ground with rotors stopped — have also contributed to its popularity among executive transport operators.

In January 2026, the first Superior Performance Package-equipped AW169 VIP helicopter entered service with a Brazilian operator. The package introduces software and avionics enhancements, an uprated transmission, increased power output, greater payload capability, and aerodynamic improvements designed to further enhance aircraft performance.

The AW169 fleet in Brazil is also supported by Leonardo’s Service and Logistics Center in Itapevi, near São Paulo. The facility is currently undergoing expansion with the addition of a new building expected to be completed by the end of the year, alongside expanded component repair and overhaul capabilities, painting services, and completion activities. Once completed, the center’s hosting capacity will increase from 20 to 28 helicopters simultaneously.

Catarina Aviation Show

The Catarina Aviation Show has rapidly established itself as the leading executive aviation and luxury aerospace event in Latin America, reflecting Brazil’s growing importance within the global business aviation market. Held annually at the São Paulo Catarina International Executive Airport, the event brings together major aircraft manufacturers, operators, investors, and high-net-worth clients in an exclusive environment focused on premium aviation and mobility solutions. Industry leaders including Embraer, Bombardier, and other global aerospace companies use the exhibition to showcase their latest executive jets, helicopters, and advanced aviation technologies. Beyond aviation, the event also incorporates luxury lifestyle sectors such as supercars, yachts, and bespoke services, reinforcing its role as both a strategic networking platform and a major commercial showcase for one of the world’s most active executive aviation markets.

Agusta

Agusta is the exclusive, high-end VIP and corporate helicopter brand launched by Leonardo S.p.A. to serve the luxury business aviation market. Relaunched during Expo 2020 Dubai, the brand synthesizes the deep engineering heritage of the iconic 1920s Agusta name with modern vertical flight technology, distinctive Italian styling, and bespoke craftsmanship. The marque encompasses Leonardo's premium private rotorcraft portfolio — including models like the AW119Kx, AW169, and the next-generation AW09 — elevating the travel experience through meticulously customized cabins with more than 30 interior layouts, noise-reduction technologies, and high-end materials. Complementing the aircraft themselves, the ecosystem features tailored ownership packages such as the “Agusta For You” maintenance program and dedicated upscale ground infrastructure through the “Casa Agusta” rotorcraft terminals. This positions Agusta as a dominant force commanding roughly 45% of the global multi-engine VIP helicopter market.

Havan

Havan is one of Brazil’s largest and most recognizable department store chains, headquartered in Brusque. Founded in 1986 by Luciano Hang and Vanderlei de Limas as a small fabric shop, the company has grown into a multi-billion-real retail empire operating more than 170 megastores across nearly every Brazilian state. The brand is widely recognized for its distinct storefront architecture, blending neoclassical facades inspired by the White House with a large replica of the Statue of Liberty positioned at store entrances. Stocking more than 350,000 national and imported products — spanning electronics, apparel, housewares, and toys — Havan has evolved into a comprehensive one-stop retail destination. Supported by a large distribution center in Barra Velha, the company employs tens of thousands of people and remains one of the most influential retail groups in Brazil.
