Major Milestone for CHC Australia
CHC, June 07, 2021 - PERTH — CHC Helicopter—a global leader in helicopter services and maintenance, repair and overhaul provision—has become the first commercial rotary wing operator in Australia to achieve the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), Civil Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR), Part 42 Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization (CAMO), and Part 145 Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO).

Vince D’Rozario, CHC Regional Director of Asia Pacific said: “We are thrilled to receive our latest CASA approvals which complement our existing approvals for the Oil & Gas (O&G), Search & Rescue (SAR) and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) sectors. CHC is renowned for its innovation, commitment to safety and reputation for quality.

With the transition to CASR Part 42 and Part 145, we have expanded on our existing robust safety standards and focus on quality and service delivery, setting us further apart from competitors. I am exceptionally proud of our Australian team for this achievement that demonstrates how we’re taking care of our customers.”

Jason Phipps, CHC APAC Regional Maintenance Manager, explained: “CHC recognized the benefit that CASR Part 42 & Part 145 would bring to our customers, our operations and our business. We undertook this initiative voluntarily to further differentiate CHC from our competitors who operate under the former regulatory framework that does not support several key safety enhancements and quality improvements that CHC recognized are important to our customers. This has been a long-standing project, drawing on expertise from within Australia and the global CHC engineering team. I’m proud of the dedication, commitment and collaboration by our team whose hard work is reflected in the quality of the result that has been achieved.”

CHC Australia will commence the transition from CAR 42 and CAR 30 to CASR Part 42 and Part 145 organizations in the coming weeks. This transition not only demonstrates CHC’s commitment to continuous improvement, but also a unified benchmark to adopt the highest industry maintenance, airworthiness and safety standards across CHC operations. This achievement will support the company in fully aligning to the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) Report 690 for Offshore Helicopter Recommended Practices that came into effect in October 2020.

About CHC: For 70 years, CHC Helicopter has provided safe, reliable, cost-effective helicopter service in some of the most remote and challenging environments around the world. With extensive experience transporting customers in the oil and gas industry, supporting search-and-rescue and EMS contracts, and providing maintenance, repair and overhaul services, our dedication to safety and reputation for quality and innovation help our customers reach beyond what they thought possible.
