Helis, January 27, 2024 - The first production MH-139 Grey Wolf helicopter recently completed its final assembly and began flight testing at the Leonardo facility in Philadelphia.
After testing, Boeing will deliver the MH-139 to the U.S. Air Force (USAF) later this year.
First announced in March 2017, the MH-139 was Boeing's proposal for the supply of up to 84 helicopters to replace the USAF UH-1N with a version of the Leonardo AW139 produced in Philadelphia.
To date, the U.S. Air Force has received four Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) and two System Demonstration Test Aircraft (SDTA) for trials.
In March 2023, Boeing was awarded a $285M contract for the production of the first 13 helicopters.
The assembly of the first production MH-139 began in June 2023 at the Leonardo facility in Philadelphia
