Heli-One, March 03, 2016 - Stavanger, Norway – Heli-One, a leading global provider of helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, announced it has established and been approved as a Flight Test Organization by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Heli- One Norway has been approved for Category 1 flight testing and can now perform testing for customers and other design organizations. Heli-One is currently the only non-OEM organization in Norway to be approved, and is one of the first in Europe.
Heli-One Norway sought approval as a flight test organization to further expand its capabilities and comply with new European Union regulations stipulating that all test flights must be performed by approved flight test organizations after January 1, 2016. EASA granted approval to Heli-One Norway on February 19, 2016. Heli-One completed its inaugural test flight for the Electronic Flight Instrument System and Flight Management System upgrade on behalf of a third-party customer.
Heli-One has added a Category 1 licensed flight test pilot and flight test engineers to work with the wider Heli-One team to continue development of industry-leading modifications and upgrades. In addition to performing testing for customers and in-house development, Heli- One offers its services to design organizations seeking an experienced test facility.
“We are proud our Stavanger facility is now an EASA Approved Flight Test Organization, which serves as testament to our continued pursuit of design excellence and dedication to innovation in aircraft technology. Our addition of a flight test team, including a licensed test pilot, brings specialized expertise that will further our design and testing ambitions,” said Anthony DiNota, President, Heli-One.
Heli-One Norway’s rich history of design development goes back over 40 years. Heli-One is an EASA Approved Design Organization and has in its design portfolio, dozens of mission- based upgrades, Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) and hundreds of minor modifications.
