High-Altitude Flight for UVH-170 Helicopter Drone

Hong Kong’ UAVOS UVH-170 unmanned helicopter completed a 2-hour surveillance mission test flight at an altitude of 16,400ft / 5000m carrying a payload of 8,800lb / 4kg

High-Altitude Flight for UVH-170 Helicopter Drone
UAVOS, July 02, 2020 - The  UVH-170 unmanned helicopter of UAVOS continues to prove its value to mountainous areas operations by flying surveillance missions at an altitude of 16,400ft / 5000m.

The UVH-170 has successfully conducted its first high altitude flight reaching out to the height of 16,400ft / 5000m. The rotary-wing platform was carrying the Gyro-stabilized two-axis gimbal with integrated Radio data link. The payload was of 8,800lb / 4kg weight. The flight time was two hours and the climb rate over 1m/s was from 13,120ft to 16,400ft / 4000m to 5000m.

The UAV high altitude capability has been achieved through modifying the fuel injection system of the 4-stroke gasoline propulsion system.

The enhancements of the fuel injection system enable the practical ceiling to be increased significantly. It can be very precisely tuned depending on the operating conditions. The UAV engine improved fuel injection technology significantly increases fuel-efficiency of rotary-wing UAV.

The UVH-170 is an unmanned helicopter and multi-payload UAS integrating UAVOS's most cutting-edge technologies. The UVH-170 features a strong design that allows the unmanned helicopter to operate under harsh weather conditions. UAVOS unmanned helicopter enables capability to operate in windy conditions with gusts more than 27kts / 14mps while taking off or landing in both land and maritime environments.

The state-of-the-art air cooling engine allows the unmanned helicopter to operate in a tropical climate in a hot and moist environment. The temperature range is -31°F to 122°F / -40°C to +50°C. With a maximum takeoff weight of 99lb / 45kg, and a payload of up to 22lb / 10kg, the UVH-170 flies at a maximum speed of 74mph / 120kph.

UAVOS UVH-170 has the ability to land in autorotation mode in emergency situations. The VTOL UAV is equipped with an emergency rescue system and satellite communication data link, which supports Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) flights.

«UVH-170 unmanned helicopter is designed for commercial operations and immediate air response, emergency relief under demanding conditions and tight timescales. The aircraft’s high standoff distance and altitude makes it well-suited to humanitarian and disaster relief in high-altitude conditions», said  Aliaksei Stratsilatau, UAVOS CEO and Lead Developer.

About UAVOS: UAVOS Company, a globally operating company with its offices in Hong Kong, the USA and Europe, has recently raised a round of financing from a group of private investors - in order to further enhance its R&D efforts, reduce the go-to-market time for new solutions and also focus on promotion and commercialization. UAVOS works directly with a number of large customers in different segments. Among UAVOS advanced ready-for-commercialization unmanned technologies is unique High Altitude Pseudo-Satellite (HAPS) ApusDuo, multiplatform autopilot solution for converting manned vehicles of all types into unmanned, and unmanned aerial vehicles aimed to counteract systems of electronic warfare.
