AMGH, October 18, 2018 - Lewisville, TX) - As an air medical network provider under American Medical Response's (AMR) contract with FEMA, Air Medical Group Holdings (AMGH) is responding to the request to provide assistance in the recovery after devastating Hurricane Michael.
AMGH companies Med-Trans and Air Evac Lifeteam will be sending crews and two rotor wing craft. They will also be sending additional medical supplies.
AMR is the primary medical ground transportation leg of its parent company, Global Medical Response (GMR) and AMGH is the primary GMR air medical transportation company. AMGH comprises Med-Trans, Air Evac Lifeteam, Guardian Flight, REACH and AirMed International companies.
"We are committed to helping support these communities and the patients who were in the path of this catastrophic Hurricane." said Fred Buttrell, President and CEO of AMGH. "Helping these communities will not impact our day-to-day ability to provide timely medical response for all the communities we serve." He anticipates the crews will be on a 7-14-day activation, but that can change as the situation changes. The crews will stay in the area as long as needed. When the crews arrive at their assigned area, they will be working under the guidance of FEMA, State and local EMS agencies.
"When disasters of the magnitude of Hurricane Michael occur, we appreciate the support of all the EMS agencies who come together to work tirelessly on behalf of the affected communities," said Ted Van Horne, AMR President and CEO. "All the teams from AMGH were embedded with us during Florence and now we have engaged them again to help with Michael."
As the nation's largest provider of medical transportation and FEMA's prime emergency medical service response provider, AMR has a national agreement with FEMA to provide ground ambulance, air ambulance, paratransit services and non-ambulance EMS personnel to supplement the Federal and Military response to a disaster, an act of terrorism or any other public health emergency.
