Global Medical Response, December 03, 2019 - Caregivers from American Medical Response (AMR) and REACH Air Medical Services (REACH), two Global Medical Response companies, were recently honored at Kaiser Permanente’s 2019 First Responder Appreciation Event hosted in Vallejo on November 20, 2019.
Crew members from REACH 1 in Santa Rosa were honored for providing timely and safe care to a patient involved in a head-on collision involving a truck and a motorcycle.
Thanks to their training, the patient—who had a 25 percent chance of surviving—was transported to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center, where they were treated and eventually discharged from the hospital. The patient has since completed acute rehabilitation and is now recovering at home with the help of home health aides.
Crew members from REACH 7 in Marysville and AMR Yolo County were also recognized for providing expedient care on an emergency scene. In July 2019, teams were dispatched to a motor vehicle rollover accident. One patient was ejected from the vehicle and required rapid transport to the Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Trauma Center. Unfortunately, due to the severity of their injuries, the patient did not survive. However, as a result of the quick response by REACH and AMR, the patient was able to help save five lives through organ donation.
