Leonardo has hosted its global AW09 distributor network at its Vergiate facility in northern Italy as preparations continue for the certification and market introduction of the company’s next-generation single-engine helicopter.
The event brought together distributors from around the world to review the latest programme milestones and coordinate the activities that will support the AW09’s commercial entry into service. Attendees also received updates on customer support, training and maintenance solutions that will accompany the aircraft throughout its operational life.
Participants explored the AW09’s cabin configuration options, including Agusta interior layouts, and discussed how the helicopter will be supported across different international markets once deliveries begin.
Safran Helicopter Engines, supplier of the AW09’s powerplant, also participated in the programme, highlighting the collaboration between the two companies as certification activities continue.
A highlight of the event was the opportunity for distributors to experience the AW09 in flight for the first time. Demonstration flights allowed participants to evaluate the helicopter’s flying qualities, handling characteristics and overall performance, providing first-hand experience of the aircraft ahead of its commercial launch.
Leonardo said the meeting also reinforced cooperation across its worldwide partner network, allowing distributors to exchange experience, share best practices and align preparations for the helicopter’s introduction into their respective markets.
The company thanked its partners for their continued support as the AW09 programme progresses towards certification and entry into service.
