Boeing, June 11, 2023 - by Brett Anker - In March, the U.S. Air Force authorized the production of the first 13 MH-139A aircraft intended for operational use.
Boeing’s first production MH-139A aircraft destined for service has reached final assembly in Leonardo Helicopters’ northeast Philadelphia facility.
Final assembly is the last stage in the production process before aircraft deliveries can occur.
As part of the final assembly process, military equipment introduced by Boeing’s supplemental type certificates (STCs) necessary to transform Leonardo’s AW139 into the Boeing MH-139A is installed, and the aircraft is delivered to the customer.
The strength of the MH-139A Grey Wolf lies in Boeing as the prime contractor and Leonardo as an original equipment manufacturer.
Combining its experience integrating specialized military equipment with Leonardo’s proven design, Boeing expands its commercial derivative aircraft business and provides the Air Force with a highly capable product at the best value.
What’s next: Deliveries are slated to begin in 2024.
