US Air Force Strategic Command (SAC) giving a tour of the new Boeing MH-139 helicopter. Derived from the AW139, will replace the UH-1N fleet
The Boeing MH-139 is a joint venture with Leonardo which manufactures the AgustaWestland AW139, from which the MH-139 is derived, in Philadelphia since 2007.
The USAF awarded Boeing $375 million last September for the first four helicopters including the integration of non-developmental items (NDI). The full contract is $ 2.5 billion for 84 helicopters.
The MH-139 is going to replace the Bell UH-1N Twin Huey fleet in use since the 1970s by the Tactical Response Force which protects the ICBM missile bases.
