Ryan Aerospace, May 04, 2026 - Ryan Aerospace is launching its brand new Robinson Mixed Reality Helicopter Simulator at Rotortech this week, right here at our home base - Gold Coast, Australia.
This new mixed reality simulator redefines professional, affordable simulation using the latest mixed reality technologies. Mixed Reality (MR) means the trainee (wearing a headset with built-in passthrough cameras) can see real elements in the headset as well as virtual ones.
For example, your body, controls, seat, kneeboard and some control panels / avionics are all seen as real whilst the rest of the instruments, the cabin and out-the-window visuals are virtual. All of this is packaged up in a small footprint simulator platform with built-in motion platform that can fit into just a small office space.
This will be one of the most realistic and convincing simulators you will have ever set foot in.
Ryan Aerospace is a pioneer in the field of virtual and mixed reality simulators, having already delivered many hundreds of devices to the US Air Force, US Army and US Navy to name just a few.
This device simulation host is provided by Laminar Research (X-Plane) and the flight model comes from VSkylabs. We will be running the Varjo XR-4 mixed reality headset.
To add to this capability, try out the long-lining / vertical reference feature where you can lean your head outside the door and see (as well as feel) the load swinging underneath. This capability is brought to you by the Intersim Helso feature.
