Helis, July 16, 2018 - The US Navy conducts an historic Osprey flight on July 16, 2018.
This flight marks the first time in history an Osprey has ever been flown by an all-Navy crew.
An MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft assigned to the US Marine Corp training squadron VMMT-204 flew from Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia to Marine Corps Air Station New River in North Carolina.
The US Navy has 39 Osprey ordered in the CMV-22B variant for the carrier on board delivery (COD) role. These will replace the C-2A Greyhound airplane in the transport mission between the aircraft carriers and shore bases from 2020.
