Asia Pacific Aerospace, January 27, 2021 - The United States Naval Air Systems Command has awarded Asia Pacific Aerospace (APA) with a five-year extension to its contract for T700-GE-401C engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services.
This contract supports Commonwealth maritime operations via the provision of through-life support for T700 engines fitted to the Royal Australian Navy’s MH-60R (Romeo) Seahawk fleet.
This offers a two-level maintenance solution for the fleet, as well as in-country T700 support.
As the Royal Australian Navy's next-generation submarine hunter and anti-surface warfare helicopter, the MH-60R Seahawk is an important part of its current and future operations.
APA’s MRO services for this contract will be conducted at its state-of-the-art GE-approved maintenance centre in Brisbane, Queensland. With the contract worth approximately US $5 million per year, this is a significant announcement for Queensland.
“The five-year extension to this contract will secure Queensland jobs and provide new employment opportunities for apprentices, ensuring APA continues training technicians for the future,” says Tony Cotroneo, APA’s General Manager.
With full-service MRO capabilities, APA plays an important role in supporting maritime operations in the Asia-Pacific. The company has a long association with the Royal Australian Navy, United States Navy and GE Aviation, and has provided engine MRO services to the Royal Australian Navy for the last 20 years. The signing of this contract will see this service continue to December 2025.
“It is crucial we continue to provide the Royal Australian Navy with the best support possible, so they can maintain flight safety whilst conducting operations defending Australia and protecting national interests,” Mr Cotroneo says. “To achieve this, we are continually investing in new facilities and personnel to uphold our world-leading MRO capabilities.”
About APA: Established for more than 30 years, APA is one of the most advanced gas turbine engine MRO companies in the Asia-Pacific region. Its purpose-built maintenance facilities support a range of T700 capabilities, including:
- Scheduled and unscheduled MRO for engines, modules and accessories
- Foreign object damage (FOD) repair
- Failure analysis
- Comprehensive test capabilities
As GE Aviation’s sole authorised T700 MRO provider in the Asia-Pacific, APA delivers on its promise of ‘safety, skill and service’. APA is based in Brisbane, Australia, and has support staff in Singapore.
