Helis, May 02, 2026 - ANKARA, Turkey – Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) announced the successful delivery of the sixth T625 GÖKBEY helicopter, marking a key milestone in Turkey’s defense and aviation sector.
This delivery is the first GÖKBEY to enter service with the Turkish Land Forces Command.
The T625 GÖKBEY is Turkey’s first indigenously designed and developed multi-role helicopter.
With this delivery, TUSAŞ reports a cumulative total of 134 helicopters produced and delivered across all its programs, underlining its expanding role in the national aerospace sector.
“With our national engineering capabilities, we continue to strengthen our presence in the skies, enhance the operational effectiveness of our security forces, and contribute to Turkey’s defense vision,” TUSAŞ said in an official statement.
The GÖKBEY program is designed to deliver a versatile platform capable of performing a wide range of missions, including search and rescue, VIP transport, and air ambulance operations, even in challenging environmental and geographical conditions.
Its induction into the Turkish Land Forces marks an important step toward greater national self-reliance in defense technologies.
The T625 GÖKBEY originated from Turkey’s Indigenous Helicopter Program launched in 2013 by the Presidency of Defense Industries to replace the aging fleet of Bell UH-1H Huey aircraft with a modern multi-role platform. Developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries, the program reached a major milestone with its maiden flight in September 2018, demonstrating capabilities across a wide range of environments and missions. After extensive testing and the integration of the domestically produced TS1400 turboshaft engine, the helicopter entered mass production and began deliveries to Turkish security forces in 2024, marking a significant step toward national self-sufficiency in aerospace technology.
