Wake Forest Baptist Health Received Fourth EC135
PAC International, March 10, 2019 - PAC International delivered the fourth customized Airbus EC135P2+ helicopter to Wake Forest Baptist Health’s AirCare program.

“Our fourth aircraft is a dedicated spare that plays a key role in helping us meet the needs of our customers,” said Billy Haynes, program manager of AirCare Critical Care Transport. “This aircraft is flight ready and is quickly placed in service when any of our primary aircraft require maintenance. It is also utilized as the primary aircraft for NASCAR races and other special events without disrupting customer service at our three bases. All four aircraft have identical avionics and medical interiors facilitating an easy transition between aircraft by pilots and medical crew.”

PAC completely refurbished the aircraft interior with Metro Aviation’s standard EMS interior, featuring crew and medical attendant seats, storage pouches, and a composite medical floor with a Ferno 28A-1 litter. The configuration team matched the interior with custom paint packages and upgraded windows.

“We completed the first three aircraft for this program early last year and are pleased to add this fourth aircraft to their program. We are confident these aircraft will provide many years of service to the dedicated team at AirCare,” said Marty Blough, the manager of completions and projects at PAC.

In addition to the EMS specific equipment, the AirCare team chose upgraded technology to enhance its missions including the Garmin GDL69 XM weather system and the Outerlink IRIS system for flight tracking and data monitoring.

AirCare expects the helicopter to enter service in Q2 2019, joining a fleet that has responded to approximately 25,000 calls from North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee and South Carolina.

“The staff at PAC have all been amazing. They completed our first three aircraft on a very ambitious timeline, with fantastic results. Ed Wahl and the other staff at PAC are always receptive to any questions or concerns we have and great to provide periodic status updates,” said Haynes.

All AirCare aircraft are owned and operated by Metro Aviation and the helicopter was on display in booth #C1023 at Heli-Expo in Atlanta.
