Equinor is an international energy company headquartered in Stavanger, Norway.
Equinor ASA, formerly known as Statoil until 2018, is Norway's state-controlled multinational energy company headquartered in Stavanger. Founded in 1972 to develop the country's offshore petroleum resources, it has become the largest operator on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and one of Europe's leading energy producers. Equinor operates numerous offshore oil and gas fields, including Troll, Gullfaks, Oseberg, Heidrun and Johan Sverdrup, while also investing in offshore wind, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and other low-carbon energy technologies. Its extensive offshore operations depend on one of the world's largest commercial helicopter transport networks, providing year-round personnel transport, search and rescue, and medical evacuation services to installations across the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea.
