Established September 2016 with investment by Vitals Global Healthcare (VGH). Started operations on January 2017. Is the first air ambulance in Gozo, until then, any critically injured have to be airlifted by the Armed Forces of Malta or the Italian Air Force MICCD.
The Bell 412 operates from the heliport at Xewkija (LMMG), Gozo to the helipad at St Luke's hospital helipad where they would then be transferred by ambulance to Mater Dei.
Malta air ambulance completed 57 flights during their first year of service.
In March 2020 added a second helicopter (ex French SAMU EC135) which eventually will replace the Bell 412
