Formed on 1 Apr 1947 as 103 Search and Rescue Flight at Dartmouth, NS, it moved to CFB Greenwood later that year and was re-badged 103 Rescue Unit in 1950. Moved to CFB Summerside, PEI in Jul 1968 and became 413 Squadron but disbanded in 1969.
Reformed in 1977 at Gander and became 103 Search and Rescue Squadron in Mar 1997.
