The US Air Force Reserve 908th Airlift Wing was established in 1963 and flew the C-130 Hercules cargo plane between 1983 and 2022.
In 2020 was selected to be the Training Unit for the new Leonardo/Boeing MH-139A Grey Wolf.
They transitioned to helicopter flying with the 23d FTS TH-1H Huey and further training with Chevron crews.
The first MH-139A Grey Wolf arrived to Maxwell AFB, AL on April 3, 2024.
Boeing delivered the 9th, 10th and 11th production helicopters to Maxwell AFB 908th Wing in September 2025.
