3rd Combat Aviation Brigade US Army Aviation

Established 1985 in Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. In 1996 was reactivated at Fort Stewart, part of 3rd Infantry Division.

1-3 AVN Vipers - AH-64D
2-3 AVN Knighthawks - UH-60L/M & CH-47
3-17 Cav Lighthorse - AH-64D
4-3 AVN Brawlers - UH-60M

On December 28, 2015 more than 20 helicopters returned to the U.S. from Europe via cargo ship. They were unload at Charleston and flew home to Hunter Army Airfield, GA

On October 2017, 3rd CAB deployed to Afghanistan as Task Force Falcon replacing the 16th Combat Aviation Brigade of the 7th Infantry Division
In mid Oct 2019, 3rd CAB began a nine month rotation to Europe as part of Atlantic Resolve, relieving 1st CAB. The brigade deployed 75 helicopters by ship to Zeebrugge (37) and Volos (38).
