Kortenaer class

1978

General purpose frigates. They were originally fitted with two 76 mm guns (see photo) being the one at the top of the hangar replaced by a CIWS Goalkeeper system later. Two vessels were transferred to Greece during construction as the Elli class and were replaced in dutch service by two new ships configured in the air defense role known as Jacob van Heemskerck class. After retirement, eight Kortenaers were transferred to Greece too and refited upon the Elli class
