Yamagumo class (やまぐも型護衛艦)
1966
This class introduced the ASROC antisubmarine system and diesel machinery resulting in impresive improvements from the previous Akizuki class. Three ships were built when production shifted to the DASH QH-50 capable Minegumo class but when those aircraft were retired production resumed.
