Operated by the Marine Nationale on behalf of the Polar Institute Paul-Émile Victor and the Terres australes et antarctiques françaises, as a research support vessel. She is usually based in Hobart for the southern summer and services the Antarctic base Dumont d’Urville station, Adelie Land. There is a cooperation agreement with Australia and she can also supply Macquarie Island for the Australian Antarctic Service.
