My father was USCG 1958 - 1987. In the late 1960' we were stationed at air station Annette, AK. During our tour, my father and his CG buddy took his 17ft boat to Duke Island to hunt. While there, the tide went out leaving them grounded. My mother decided to call the CG and report them missing! This was October 31, 1968. I have the SAR mission sheet from this event and it notes that HH52a 1446 was diverted to conduct a search. HH52a 1446 located subject aground, POB safe no assistance required, intend to refloat and return to Annette. HH52a 1446 landed at 0240z. Case closed.
