Discovered in Oct 1970 with oil found in Paleocene sands. The platform was originally named Highland I and installed during 1974. First production Sep 1975 with oil piped ashore to Grangemouth refinery. Water injection started in 1976. Production was declining and BP sold the field in 2003 to Apache, who after investigations developed it further and production increased.
Forties Charlie gathers all production from the Forties Field and sends it through a 36 pipeline via the Unity Riser Platform to Crudden Bay.
