CHC Helikopter Service introduced the Sikorsky S-92 into Norwegian offshore operations in 2005, becoming one of the launch operators of the type in the North Sea. Initially deployed under contracts with Norsk Hydro and Statoil (now Equinor), the S-92 gradually became the backbone of CHC's offshore transport fleet, supporting crew changes to oil and gas installations across the Norwegian Continental Shelf. In addition to personnel transport, the aircraft has been configured for search and rescue (SAR) and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) missions, including government-contracted all-weather SAR operations. Over the years, CHC has also pioneered operational improvements with the S-92 in Norway, including the country's first helicopter LPV approach and the first commercial offshore flights using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Today, the S-92 remains the company's primary heavy helicopter for offshore transport and emergency response, serving major energy operators from bases including Bergen, Kristiansund and Brønnøysund.
