Helis, November 03, 2018 - Sikorsky announced in its October 2018 update that 22 CH-53K King Stallion helicopters are in production.
The King Stallion, as is known, is the future heavy lift helicopter for the US Marine Corps with near 200 on order.
Following their international debut at Berlin last July, the CH-53K has recently completed degraded visual environment testing in Yuma Arizona.
The four prototypes plus the first SDTA (System Demonstration Test Article) delivered to the Marines last May have completed more than 1200 flight hours up to date.
The final assembly line is at the Sikorsky plant at Stratford, CT and the main suppliers are Spirit, GKN, EDO and Aurora for the fuselage and GE Aviation for the GE38 engines. Others suppliers includes Northrop-Grumman, Donaldson, LORD and CPI Aero.
