EuroTec, March 02, 2017 - EuroTec Canada recently upgraded the York Regional Police’s H120 helicopter, Air2, with the latest in high definition (HD) video equipment to complement its HD infrared camera system.
“As technology advances, the equipment is increasingly getting better, lighter and faster, so the decision was made to have the team at EuroTec Canada install the various mission-specific upgrades in our EC120 [H120] aircraft,” said Sgt Andrew Owens of York Regional Police. “These upgrades will further advance our capabilities to better serve the public by providing ground officers with valuable tactical insight and assistance in patrol, surveillance and community safety.”
To further enhance Air2’s capabilities, the new Churchill augmented reality system enables the aircraft to display an augmented reality overlay, while the Vislink HD downlink system transmits high definition video to the ground support units.
Avalex high definition monitors were installed in the aircraft to allow the tactical light officers a clear view of the scene unfolding thousands of feet below.
These upgrades enable the officers in the air support unit to maintain a safe distance from the scene while utilizing the latest technology available for airborne law enforcement.
EuroTec Canada completed the necessary modifications on time and under budget to minimize aircraft downtime. “We have performed many installations and modifications since our inception,” said Hoss Golanbari, VP and managing director of EuroTec Canada.
“We appreciate the department’s confidence in our ability to complete this project and help support their on-going missions to protect and serve the general public.
