HAL Facilities Are of National Importance, Cannot be Allowed to be Idle: RRM, HAL to Invite Private Entities for Manufacturing ALH Dhruv (Civil Version)

The civil version of the military Dhruv helicopter will be made available for manufacturing to Indian industry

ALH Civil Version. HAL Facilities Are of National Importance, Cannot be Allowed to be Idle: RRM, HAL to Invite Private Entities for Manufacturing ALH Dhruv (Civil Version)

HAL, December 11, 2017 - Bengaluru/Nashik - On December 9, 2017 Dr. Subhash Bhamre, Raksha Rajya Mantri (Minister of State for Defence) assured HAL that work load for Nashik will continue to flow even after Su-MKI manufacturing and production activities conclude in next few years.

“HAL has the world class facilities and given the successful integration of BraMos on Su-30 MKI, 40 more aircraft will undergo such integration. Besides this, HAL can shift part of its LCA manufacturing at Nashik and there is possibility of FGFA work happening at Nashik”, he said at Public Private Partnership (PPP) Summit under Make-in-India held at HAL Nashik today.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. T. Suvarna Raju, CMD, HAL said the Company is keen to encourage private partnership in all its activities and as a major step, it would like to offer the indigenous helicopter ‘ALH Dhruv’ (Civil version) for manufacturing to select Indian Private Companies through Transfer of Technology.

HAL is likely to float RFI soon for identifying the Indian Private Agency that can produce Dhruv helicopters in future. Considering the increasing need of helicopters in civil operations of the country, this will be a mega deal from HAL which is the OEM and Licensor.

Mr. Udayanth Malhatra, CEO&MD of Dynamatic Technologies Limited (Bengaluru) symbolically handed over 100th Ship set of Su-30 MKI Assemblies to Mr. Raju in the presence of RRM.

Dr. Bhamre in his speech pointed out that the delivery of 100th empennage assemblies also affirms the successful public private partnership in outsourcing of aircraft assemblies, first time in the country, which has become role model under 'Make in India’ program. This should be future model not only of HAL but other companies also. There is a need for larger ecosystem of Private Enterprises to transform themselves for greater participation in the aerospace sector to support the Govt’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. HAL has been instrumental in nurturing a competitive aviation eco-system in India by way of collaborating with private industries as outsourced partners with more than 30% of HAL’s man-hours being outsourced including several critical work packages, he added.

Dr. Bhamre further said that it is a welcome move that private organizations including MSMEs are being engaged in Design & Developments of products and technologies. “I request all the stake holders of this aerospace and defence manufacturing eco-system to contribute”, he added. Expressing concern over HAL’s order book beyond 2020-21, Dr. Bhamre said HAL’s facility is of national importance and cannot be allowed to be idle. With the availability of state-of-the art infrastructure and expertise built over the years, additional orders on HAL would help IAF bridge the gap between the existing and desired squadron strength in the shortest possible time. This is possible with Public-Private partnership, he said.

Mr. Daljeet Singh, CEO, MiG Complex, HAL welcomed the gathering. Mr. P. Jayapal CEO, CEMILAC and Mr. Nirmal Thasiah, AD DGAQA and vendors from different parts of the country were present on the occasion.

ALH Civil Version

The civil version of this versatile and proven flying machine, developed over the years of research, will be made available for manufacturing to Indian industry. This version can be used for short distance passenger transport, VIP travel, search and rescue, emergency medical service, underslung load, disaster relief, offshore operations in varying and challenging geographical terrains.
