WARSAW, Poland — Indra Group, together with Polish construction company NDI, has been selected to expand and modernize the Polish Air Medical Service (LPR) pilot and crew training center, equipping the facility with a new Level D Full Flight Simulator (FFS) for the Airbus EC135 P3 helicopter.
The project includes the delivery of a Level D EC135 P3 simulator, with the option to configure it for the EC135 P2+ variant, construction of a new training center building, refurbishment of the existing Flight Training Device (FTD) hall, and long-term maintenance support.
The simulator will feature Roll-in/Roll-out capability, allowing additional cockpit modules to be integrated in the future as new helicopter types enter the LPR fleet.
Supporting HEMS Training
Simulation-based training can reduce the number of real flight hours required for pilot instruction and qualification by up to 40 percent while enhancing operational safety. It also lowers helicopter operating and maintenance costs, reduces fuel consumption, minimizes airframe wear, and increases aircraft availability for emergency medical missions.
The new simulator will employ a 4LED projection system with an additional infrared channel, enabling realistic Night Vision Goggle (NVG) training while improving visual fidelity. A detailed terrain database covering all of Poland will reproduce airports, hospital helipads, landing sites, and operational environments used by LPR crews during Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) missions in both day and night conditions and across a wide range of weather scenarios.
Airbus H135 Fleet
The Airbus H135 is one of the world's most widely used light twin-engine helicopters, serving emergency medical services, police, military, and corporate operators worldwide. More than 1,600 aircraft from the H135 family have been delivered to over 300 operators.
The investment forms part of Poland's European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment Programme 2021–2027 under a Ministry of Health project to acquire and install a Level D helicopter Full Flight Simulator together with new training facilities for LPR operational personnel.
