SANTA CRUZ, CA & TOYOTA CITY, Japan — Joby Aviation and Toyota Motor Corporation have announced the launch of the initial phase of a strategic manufacturing alliance through the establishment of a joint venture aimed at supporting the commercial production of Joby’s electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The alliance combines Joby’s aircraft development experience with Toyota’s expertise in manufacturing systems and production processes. Initially, the joint venture will focus on establishing the foundation for commercial production while improving productivity, quality and manufacturing efficiency.
According to the companies, the collaboration will also support the expansion of Joby’s manufacturing capacity as the company advances aircraft certification and prepares for anticipated market demand.
