BERG, Germany — REISER Simulation and Training GmbH and Varjo hosted the REISER-Varjo Experience Day, bringing together representatives from the aerospace, defense, civil aviation and training sectors to explore the latest developments in extended reality (XR) simulation.
Held under the theme "New Realities Outpace Training – XR Closes the Gap", the event focused on how immersive simulation technologies can address rapidly evolving operational and mission requirements across civil and military aviation.
Immersive Training Demonstrations
Participants attended presentations and live demonstrations showcasing the operational application of XR-based training systems. Demonstrations included the REISER H135 XR Simulator, Rheinmetall's Virtual Procedure Trainer (VPT), and several mixed reality applications from Varjo, including AI-assisted smart segmentation and counter-UAS training.
Martin Keil, Chief Technology Officer of REISER Simulation and Training GmbH, “Modern training systems must evolve in step with operational demands. XR-based simulation enables us to build a scalable and flexible training ecosystem that adapts to real-world requirements and delivers mission-ready forces.”
Valentin Storz, Chief Revenue Officer of Varjo, “Mixed reality is no longer a concept we pitch to decision-makers—it is the infrastructure that enables militaries and civil security forces to scale training at a pace traditional methods simply cannot match. Our work with REISER demonstrates how high-fidelity XR delivers measurable outcomes today.”
Nico Lange, Founder and Director of the IRIS Institute for Risk Analysis and International Security, “The security environment is evolving faster than most training systems can adapt. XR-based simulation is one of the most credible answers we have to that gap, and events like this show it is ready to be taken seriously.”
The event also featured presentations from Hanno Tabeling of Rheinmetall and Florian Rabe of DRF Academy, addressing multi-domain mission training and the operational use of XR simulation. According to the organizers, the event provided a platform for discussion on the future integration of immersive training technologies across both civil and military sectors.
