Helis, January 08, 2020 - The Progress Arsenyev Aviation Company (Progress AAC), part of Russian Helicopters, announced that the third Kamov Ka-62 prototype (OP-3) completes its maiden flight last December 27 at Arseniev.
The new aircraft will begin a certification test program.
“In parallel with the certification tests, preparations will be made to begin serial production of the Ka-62 that we plan to launch in 2020”, said Andrey Boginsky, general director of Russian Helicopters. “At the end of the certification process, we will be ready to begin mass deliveries”
The Ka-62 is a multipurpose civil helicopter in the 6.5 ton class that can carry 15 passengers up to 600 km. Powered by two French Ardiden 3G engines, it was first announced in 2013 and completed its first flight in April 2016. The design makes intensive use of polymer composite materials that represent up to 60% of the total mass of the airframe.
Mainly intended for offshore operations in support of the oil and gas industries, the Ka-62 can also be equipped as an air ambulance for emergency medical services. With a maximum ceiling of 18,000 feet, the helicopter is also suitable for search and rescue (SAR) in mountainous areas.
Last September, Novikombank signed agreement with Russian Helicopters during MAKS 2019 for the financing of the Ka-62 program.

I'm just glad kamov got current with their designs but they knew that to stay competitive |
Looks like the aft Emergency Exit is obstructed, might make HOFO compliance interesting.. |
"T" tail is interesting, probably an attempt to avoid the high nose up attitudes in the hover that plague so many other designs. Undercarriage should be good for deck work even if it does look unusual, tricycle not always best. |
Undercarriage layout similar to Seahawk. |
Looking interesting with undercarriage in the aft. |
